Bret "The Hitman" Hart kicked off what is going to be a busy week of appearances in preparation for the release of his DVD over the weekend at the Ringsidefest event in New York City. On Wednesday evening, Bret Hart makes his first major WWE appearance in eight years when he appears on WWE's internet broadcast ByteThis. He follows that up live on Sunday evening when he is a guest on Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer Live. On top of this, Bret Hart found time to meet Kurt Angle for the first time over the weekend. The following are highlights of Bret Hart's question and answer session from November 5th at Ringsidefest:
Bret Hart admitted that he used to be close friends with Shawn Michaels, but claimed that Shawn "forgot where he came from" and at one point decided that he wanted Bret's spot, and that he would take it "by hook or by crook". When asked how he and Shawn began to dislike eachother, Hart claimed that he himself was a decent person while Shawn was "always an asshole"...Bret Hart adressed rumors that he would be inducted into the Hall of Fame next year. Hart said that he had received offers, but stated that if he were to do it, it would have to take place at Madison Square Garden... Bret Hart claimed that he was at peace with WWE at last and that he wasn't upset that they played his music and teased his appearance in Canada... Bret described his fight backstage with Shawn Michaels as "two girls fighting" and though it wasn't much, he was able to spin Michaels around by the hair. When asked about Shawn Michaels role in being screwed by Bret Hart, Hart responded "I guess that shows how good of a Christian he is"... Bret Hart called Jim Neidhart his best friend in the business... On whether or not he had any heat with Bill Goldberg, Bret claimed he had no ill feelings towards him and that his career ending concussion was "one of those bad days at work"... Bret Hart claimed that the Ultimate Warrior wasn't a good wrestler and wasn't a good person and that he probably had what was coming to him in regards to The Self Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior DVD... Bret Hart said that Ric Flair was "A great wrestler 100 years ago" and that maybe the two of them could have a wheelchair match sometime... Bret called Bruno Sammartino his inspiration to become a professional wrestler, and claimed he wanted to become a great champion like Bob Backlund. Hart joked that ironically his worst match was with Backlund, and recalled stepping through the curtain after the match and saying "that stunk". Bret called the idea of him working with Backlund "a shitty idea"... Bret said that if he knew the outcome of the Survivor Series match in 1997, he would went out to the ring and knocked Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels out... On Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart claimed he was selfish and couldn't be trusted... Finally, Hart had less than complimentary things to say about Triple H. Hart ended the interview and was said to be very polite and professional.
